Blue Fish

It's been a long time since my last post . I have been very busy painting and drawing. A new range of home ware  products are about to be launched with some of my new designs on,whoa hoo!! In the meantime I thought I would post a painting I did at the end of last year. I am now selling my paintings at http://www.artgallery.co.uk/artist/judith_keen_2 please take a look.

What are you lookin' at?

I have spent the last few weeks thinking of a subject for the painting I wanted to submit to the Threadneedle Prize I have toyed with a couple of ideas and committed them to canvas only to be disappointed with the results before I have even finished them, so with only a couple of weeks remaining before the registration closed, I decided to go with an old idea taken from a photo snapped on holiday last year.
I know that my technique is not particularly fashionable and it may not be what the judges are looking for for entry into the exhibition but I love painting people in a less conventional pose and I am happy with this painting so I am submitting this.
Wish me luck I am submitting it today!

My very own Rock Star!!!
Last Saturday night my husband's band, Resolution played a gig at a local pub. They were amazing and rocked the pub all night. I have chosen to paint him with his guitar in a quieter mood.

'A  chip of the old block......'

It has been ages since I have posted anything, although that does not mean that I have not been busy. I have recently painted this study of my daughter . Unfortunately due to the size of the piece I had to photograph it to get it onto the blog and the image has suffered a little.

I have been painting larger images recently which I am finding to be very liberating and I am toying with the idea of entering something into the The Threadneedle Prize which is specifically for figurative work, wish me luck as competition is fierce.

Flamenco - Please give me your thoughts.

I have dug out a sketch  I did a little while ago and did nothing with , I am not sure at the moment whether to leave it as a sketch or whether it would be worthwhile to do a piece of work based around it. If anyone has any thoughts please let me know I would appreciate your comments.

Eureka Moment!

Wow! I find it amazing that not only can people around the corner view my posts but so can people across the other side of the globe,  it's incredible!

I am not a tehno-phobe but I have taken a while to grasp the concept of blogging and tweeting, I have remained  in my comfort zone and have largely ignored the virtual world of the internet unless I have wanted to shop. I have dabbled with Facebook a little but I have never truly got to grips with it, to be honest I am lazy when it comes to keeping in touch.

However, releasing my first post yesterday I found oddly liberating. I think I have found an internet medium that suits me. I can write my blog and display my work whilst maintaining as much anonymity as I like. I don't have to tell you all what I had for tea or what I am doing at any given moment. i can simply write when I feel like writing or post a piece of work when I feel like posting a piece of work without you having to know my inside leg measurement.

So here is my next piece for your delectation ( at least I hope you like it).

First post!!!!!

This is my first post and is an introduction to my work.

I will be posting more work on this blog in the future.

I would love to get any feedback and will be linking this blog to a website in the near future.

'Fish' was inspired by a bowl of gold fish , surprise ,surprise! The distorted view of the pebbles is deliberate to push the fish towards the viewer and make the them appear as if they are on the outside of a globe shaped object instead of inside.

Autumn colour inspired me for this piece. It started as a drawing of one leaf but grew into a whole branch.
